For years ridge tiles were bedded on with mortar, which cracks and lets go over time, so ridge tiles slip and need re-bedding every so often. Dry ridge does away with that.
A dry ridge system clamps and screws each ridge tile down over a ventilated roll, so it is held mechanically rather than glued on with mortar. It never needs re-pointing, it lets the roof breathe, and it meets current standards for new and re-roofed properties.

Is dry ridge better than mortar?
For most homes, yes. Mortar cracks and needs re-bedding over time, whereas a dry ridge is fixed mechanically, ventilates the roof and is virtually maintenance free.
Can you convert my mortar ridge to dry ridge?
Yes. We remove the old mortar bedded ridge and fit a dry ridge system in its place, which is a common upgrade during a re-roof or a repair.
Does a dry ridge need any upkeep?
Almost none. Each ridge tile is mechanically fixed over a ventilated roll, so unlike mortar it does not crack or need re-pointing over the years.
Is dry ridge required on a re-roof?
Current British Standards call for ridge and hip tiles to be mechanically fixed on new and re-roofed properties, so a dry ridge system is the standard way we finish a re-roof.
