Roof Repairs

Chimney Repairs in Woking & Surrey

Chimneys take the full force of the weather, so they are often the first part of a roof to fail. Crumbling mortar, cracked flaunching and tired flashings all let water into the stack and down into the house.

We carry out every kind of chimney work, from repointing and renewing the flaunching to fitting new lead flashings, rebuilding a stack or removing one that is no longer used. Every job is left weathertight.

  • Repointing worn mortar joints
  • New flaunching around the pots
  • New lead flashings, soakers and back gutters
  • Part or full stack rebuilds
  • Chimney removal and roof made good
  • Cowls and caps fitted to stop damp and birds

FAQs

Your Questions, Answered

My chimney is not used, should I remove it?

It is often worth removing a redundant stack that is in poor condition, as it takes away a common source of leaks and future upkeep. We make the roof good where it comes off.

What is flaunching?

Flaunching is the sloped mortar bed that holds the chimney pots and sheds water off the top of the stack. When it cracks, water gets in, so we renew it as part of the repair.

How much does chimney repointing cost?

It depends on the size and height of the stack, how much of the mortar has gone and the access needed. We give you a free written quote with a fixed price after we have looked at the chimney.

Do I need scaffolding for chimney work?

Usually yes. A stack sits at the highest point of the roof, so safe access nearly always means a scaffold or tower, which we include in your quote.

Still have a question?
